That's Two Teams' Worth!
It was reported in today's Sankei Sports that Hanshin yesterday fired their 13th and 14th players. Add that to the 4 who "retired," and that's two teams! Sure, for the most part they were the chaff among the wheat, but 18 people is a lot.

However, I'd say they won't be hiring 18 people to fill those spots - not if they've got to pay for Kanemoto, Nakamura, and Petagine, as Hoshino-kantoku is hoping to do .

It's a good sign, though. Those firings, and the fact that we've hired a few good coaches over the past few days (Hiroshima's former Tatsukawa-kantoku was taken on as battery coach last night) are good signs that Hoshino is serious about restructuring the team and the organisation.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
