BayStars to Re-sign Kroon
Officials of the Yokohama BayStars said they intend to re-sign closer Marc Kroon to a 1 year contract. Kroon is 2-1 with 20 saves and a 2.72 ERA in 45 games so far this year in place of Kazuhiro Sasaki. [Full Story - Japan Ball]

Also, it's expected the BayStars will give reliever Mark Holtz a contract extension. Holtz is 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA in 39 games. [BayStars 2005 Stats - Borisov's Pro Yakyu]

That's great news for him. He has been very exciting, consistently throwing around the 160 mark. It seems like he will follow a similar path to Jeff Williams. Struggling through the majors then finding form in the latter part of his career in Japan. How much do you think he is worth?

I would probably have to say around $750-000 to $1.25 million or so. Kroon was signed for $400,000.

I would guess he should get in the neighborhood of 1,000,000.
