Anyway, she's back now, and I am, too.
I'll need to check my Record Book when I get home for the inning record, but the record for most shut outs in a row is 4, held by 15 teams. The last team to have done it was Seibu on August 7-12, 1993. The last time Chunichi had shut out their opponents 4 games in a row was 45 years ago, as they were going for their second time.
Now that the game is over, though, I regret to say that Hiroshima scored a run in the bottom of the 8th inning on a single by pinch hitter Nomura, then, two outs later, an RBI double by Kimura Takuya (surname first). Chunichi's connecutive shut out innings were stopped at 37 as they lost the game 0-1.
On a related note, Hirosawa hit a second inning solo home run against Yokohama in rainy Kagoshima for Hanshin to give them a run for the first time in 31 innings. The Tigers have emerged from their tunnel of 0's.
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
