Yakult: Wakamatsu to Resign
Yakult Swallows manager Tsutomu Wakamatsu announced that he will resign from the manager spot at the end of the season. Wakamatsu said, "I was only able to win the championship once in seven years and I have to face my lack of ability. I thought that we could pull off a victory this year but we weren't able to accomplish this."

Wakamatsu took over as Yakult manager in 1999 and guided the Swallows to a Nippon Series title in 2001, but the Swallows haven't won a pennant since.

Wakamatsu spent his entire 19 year playing career with the Swallows (1971-1989). He won 2 batting crowns (1972 and 1979).

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
