Carp to Ask Brown to Manage

Carp to Ask Brown to Manage
The Hiroshima Carp have asked the former Carp infielder Marty Brown to manage the Carp. Sources said the Carp are currently in the United States negoitating with Brown who managed AAA Buffalo this past season. The Carp are seeking out Brown because he understands Japanese baseball and can overhaul the Carp team, officials say.

Brown played with the Carp from 1992 to 1994. He batted .256 with 50 HRs and 165 RBIs with Carp in his 3 years with the team. He spent 3 years in the majors with the Reds and Orioles. [Full Story - Japan Ball] [NPB Stats - Japan Baseball Daily] [Baseball-Reference]

Brown went 238-192 (.552) as manager of the Buffalo Bisons. This year he led the Bisons to a 82-62 record, which was a second consecutive IL North Division title with the second best record in the league. The Bisons lost to the Indianapolis Indians in the IL Semi-Finals three games to two. Brown also managed the IL's All Star team this year in Sacramento. [Full Story - Minor League Baseball]

I just saw this on the USA Today home page [Link]. It looks like Marty Brown will officially become the new Carp manager. Good for the Carp - at least they're trying something new.

I can't say the same for Orix. Nakamura was a horrible manager for Hanshin. Orix is going down the toilet for sure. Who can forget his tenure as manager of Hanshin? He traded away a good young arm, Noda, for washed-up third baseman Matsunaga. What happened? Noda ended up a 20-game winner for Orix and Matsunaga flamed out after a couple of lackluster seasons.

Hi, I applaud the Carp for making a great move in hiring Marty Brown as their manager. Brown will bring fire and innovation to the Carp. Good job Carp.

On the other hand, what are the Orix Buffaloes thinking? Nakamura as manager. Awful!
