Yakult Swallows To Test Two Foreigners
During their Autumn Camp, the Yakult Swallows will be testing out foreigners Juan Melo and an Ed Rios (not sure about the second player). Jaun Melo played 11 games with the San Francisco Giants in 2000, and his MLB stats can be viewed at Baseball-Reference. He played with the Washington Nationals' AAA team in 2005, and his career batting stats throughout the minor leagues can be seen from the New Orleans Zephyrs website.

I'm not sure about Ed Rios because he played mostly in Mexico according to the Nikkan Sports article, and my Spanish is 0Original article from Nikkan Sports (in Japanese)]

It's probably Eduardo Rios, a third baseman who played for the Aguascalientes Railroadmen and also in Taiwan.

Rios batted .319 with 31 HRs and 111 RBI this year with the Railroadmen [Minor League Stats]. He batted .293 with 8 HRs and 20 RBI with the La New Bears of the CPBL [CPBL Stats]

Japanese teams are more likely to look for foreigners who have experience in Asian baseball (ie. Lee Seung Yeop, Tyrone Woods) because many of the foreigners coming from the United States have struggled.

Juan Melo also played in Taiwan, with the China Trust Whales. In 19 games, he batted .316 with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs.

Jerrod Riggan has Japanese baseball experience, his arm is now healthy, and had a lot of success with the Tigers. I think it's time to now sign him back.

The Swallows have announced that both Juan Melo and Edward Rios won't be joining the team.
