Giants Sign Powell
The Yomiuri Giants signed pitcher Jeremy Powell (JP) to a 2 year deal. Powell will make 200 million yen, Powell went 14-12 with a 3.51 ERA last year.

Giants' manager Tatsunori Hara said about the Powell signing, "The acquisition of Powell is very interesting. First and foremost, he can be a key rotation starter for us."

We don't hear his name much, but he quietly has done a good job in Japan. Powell's a guy a team can count on for 200 plus innings a season.

I don't understand. Are things that bad at Orix? Orix offered Powell $3.3 million and Powell declined. Yomiuri offered $2 million and Powell accepted. Why take a $1.3 million pay cut?

Wow, that is strange. I wonder why he declined the Orix offer?
