Rakuten Releases Sikorski
The Rakuten Eagles have released pitcher Brian Sikorski. The Eagles claimed Sikorski off waivers from the Giants a month ago. Rakuten released Sikorski on the notion he wouldn't play for another NPB team. Right now, club officials say Sikorski hopes to play in the major leagues.

Sikorski went 7-1 with a 3.29 ERA in 70 games with the Giants this year.

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports the San Diego Padres are expected to sign RP Brian Sikorski (Japanese League). Sikorski, 31, posted a 3.55 ERA in 101 innings last season, striking out 105, walking 41 and allowing only seven home runs. The previous season, he posted a 2.65 ERA in 98 innings, striking out 87 and walking 27.
