Seibu Signs Jeff Liefer
The Seibu Lions have signed infielder Jeff Liefer to a one-year contract worth 50 million (5,000-man) yen. In 2005, Liefer hit .321 with 19 HRs and 68 RBIs for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons of the International League before being called up by the Cleveland Indians. In his seven-year Major League career, Liefer has a .230 average with 31 HRs and 113 RBIs.
