God Really Wanted Mike Greenwell to Race Trucks

God Really Wanted Mike Greenwell to Race Trucks
I haven't posted here forever, but I just had to come back for this. Here's one for Hanshin fans who've been around for a while.

Mike Greenwell has resurfaced as a truck racer [ESPN].

This is a quote from the article:
"I retired very early," Greenwell said. "I hit .297 my final year and I had 20 offers to go back and play the next year."
Uh-huh. He also had a contract with Hanshin.

And more:
"But I wanted to go racing. I literally quit baseball so I could go racing."
Hmm, at the time, he said he literally quit baseball because God told him to. I guess he left out the part about racing.

Greenwell probably figures that no one reading that article will know about what he did in Japan, which is true enough. But he still comes across as a b.s. artist here.
