Mac Perfect Debut

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Mac Perfect Debut
In Mac Suzuki's Japanese debut at Seibu Dome on May 2, 2003 [see also this thread], he pitched to and retired all six Lions he faced, striking out two while topping out at 149 kph. He'd been up in the bull-pen the previous couple of nights, but didn't see any action until Friday night.

Unfortunately, the previous three pitchers combined to give up 10 runs on just seven hits to the Lions' power offense. It wasn't until a one out solo home run by Miwa in the top of the ninth that Orix got on the board - too little, too late.

Mac was originally scheduled to pitch against Seibu on March 31, but after giving up seven runs in eight innings on March 26th against the Buffaloes' ni-gun team, he was relegated to the farm for opening day. While he hit a high of 152 kph at ni-gun, Suzuki-kun has been 0 and 3 in three appearances there. Looks like he made the most of his big chance.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
