Kazumi Saitoh Wins 2006 Sawamura Award

Kazumi Saitoh Wins 2006 Sawamura Award
And so, Hawks pitchers take the Sawamura award for the second consecutive year, and three out of four if you count the tie in 2003. [JapanBall article here]

Saitoh suffered two of the most heartbreaking 1-0 losses in two of the best post-season pitching duels ever, but when a pitcher captures the Pacific League pitching triple crown and finishes the season with an unreal 1.75 ERA in 201 innings, it's not hard to see why this was the unanimous choice.

I whole-heartedly agree. He was very unfortunate to lose those games, but the numbers and his sheer dominance of PL batters speak for themselves. Congratulations Kazumi!

Fukuoka should just hope he doesn't struggle like he did in 2004 or Sugiuchi did this year to a certain extent.

When do they announce the Best Nine? After the Series?
