Kokubo Returning to Hawks

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Kokubo Returning to Hawks
I hope my Japanese is right - Kokubo Hiroki, after being "traded" to the Giants in 2003 for nothing, is coming back to the Hawks for 2007 [SportsNavi - in Japanese]. The Hawks have kept his number on reserve all these years and will release "Welcome back Kokubo" merchandise.

Weird weird weird. No one's really been able to completely fill his shoes since (Batista, Cabrera, Honma, Inamine, Egawa).

Come to think of it, they haven't given away either Iguchi nor Johjima's number. But, something tells me they might not be coming back soon.

They gave Iguchi's number to Naoyuki Ohmura.

Yeah, Oh and Kokubo looked awfully happy posing after Oh helped Kokubo back into his number #9 jersey at the press conference.

(A picture's sometimes worth a lot of words!)

Great signing.
