Furuta's Pay Cut
In an interesting move the Swallows' Atsuya Furuta accepted a 75% paycut. He will now be paid 60 million (6,000-man) yen. This is a record reduction for a Japanese baseball player.

Does he have separate salaries as a manager and player?

Yes, he also has a 100 million (1-oku) yen salary as a manager (this one did not change as it is a 2 year contract).
