This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Translation/Summary:
The Hanshin Tigers' left fielder, Tomoaki Kanemoto, who became the highest paid Japanese player at 5.5-oku yen, spent the first day of the new year working out for a couple of hours at a Hiroshima gymnasium.
For 2007, Kanemoto needs just 157 more hits to hit the 2,000 hit mark, and 37 home runs to reach the 400 milestone. He commented that he isn't even thinking about the 157 hits but rather, "I'd like to hit 40 home runs for the first time in two years." He hit only 26 home runs last season.
Iron Man Kanemoto, who continues to extend the most consecutive full innings played streak, will be turning 39 in April.
