Saitoh's 200 Goals for 2007
Fukuoka Softbank Hawks' ace pitcher Kazumi Saitoh has made 200 his goal for 2007 - two consecutive years with 200 innings pitched and 200 strike outs. Saitoh said, "I wish Matsuzaka-kun well, but I've got to do my part to boost Japanese baseball."

Saitoh has already started running and weight training this new year. He and re-joining team mate Hiroki Kokubo will be heading to Arizona on January 8 for personal training.

Just a little fact I saw in the newspaper if anyone's interested.

No one has had 200 innings and 200 K's in two consecutive seasons since Hideki Irabu did it back in 1994-5.

It'll be interesting to see if he can do it. He had such a great season last year - his numbers were very impressive for the Hawks.

Looking at his past numbers I think he should get the IP with no problem (baring injury), but until last year he was never close to 200 strike outs.

It's an ambitious goal.
