NPB/MLB Scouts Watch Nakata's First 2007 Practice
Scouts from 10 ball clubs, including the Minnesota Twins from MLB, were out to watch Osaka Toin's junior Sho Nakata's first practice of the year on January 4th. Nakata has hit 68 home runs so far in his two year high school career (with another year to go), and throws the ball a max of 151 kph. Chunichi's Yonemura-scout that "he could carry the dream of becoming a professional ace [pitcher]/#4 [batter]." All the scouts agree, Nakata is more sought after than Kiyohara or Matsui were in their times.

Wow. A pro level ace and #4 batter would be amazing. I can't help but think of the former high school homer kings, though. Ken Suzuki has had a very average career and Hiroyuki Ohshima hasn't really done much, either.
