"I still want to play, so I haven't even thought about turning them [Yokohama] down," Kudo said from Phoenix, where he is training.Japan Ball also has an update on Kudoh, quoting Yokohama's Kuniaki Sasaki-club president as saying, "We determined that the acquisition of Kudo would be an asset for the team." On the Giants' side, Hidetoshi Kiyotake-club representative was quoted as saying, "Leaving him out of the list was a tough decision, and we greatly appreciate Kudo's contributions to our team in the past seven seasons."
Yomiuri skipper Tatsunori Hara said he was sorry to see Kudo go, and wondered aloud about the compensation rule.
"Last autumn when we spoke, we thought we'd be working together in the upcoming season," Hara said.
"It's truly regrettable that this is part of the free agent rules, but there's no way we can change it."
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

KazumiKimiyasu Kudoh, will be joining the Yokohama BayStars for 2007. Kudoh was not on the 28 man protected list, and was thereby eligible for the choosing to a team who lost a player to the Giants through free agency. Most teams opt for cash to the tune of 1.5 times the player's previous year's salary, but an unprotected player is also an option. It turns out that both Yokohama and Nippon Ham (who lost Ogasawara as a free agent to the Giants) wanted Kudoh. In the case where two teams claim an unprotected player, the club in the same league takes precedence, so Kudoh is heading to Yokohama.
While the deal has been agreed upon by both parties, details are expected to be officially released tomorrow (January 9).
In 25 years as a professional, Kudoh has marked up a 215 and 129 record with a 3.38 ERA. Last season Kudoh was 3 and 2 with a 4.50 ERA.
