Fighters Take Cash for Ogasawara
With the Yokohama BayStars taking Kimiyasu Kudoh, the Fighters' first choice for compensation for the loss of Michihiro Ogasawara, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters have opted for cash from the Giants. Ogasawara's 2006 salary was 3.8-oku (380,000,000) yen, so 120% of that comes to 4.56-oku (456,000,000) yen.

This is a case where it would have been interesting to know what players were available as compensation. There's not a lot of room for debate when you can't fill in the potential blanks on one side of the issue.
