Hiroshima: 32 Seasons in the Black

Hiroshima: 32 Seasons in the Black
There was a note at the bottom of this Daily Yomiuri article about Kiyohara's operation announcing that the Hiroshima Toyo Carp had "turned a profit in the 2006 season, marking 32 straight seasons in the black." They credit increasing merchandise sales for the reason. Some of us give credit to their low salary overhead (compared with other teams).

Now if only other teams would publish such information. And a peak at revenue and expenditures would be very informative.

I applaud Hiroshima for properly running the club financially, and they're making efforts to increase revenue, so things are all good. The problem lies solely with the way all the other clubs are run.

Then again, it could sort of develop into how the Carp are like Bundesliga teams and teams like the Giants, Dragons, and Hawks are like Liga and Serie A clubs in terms of finances. Maybe?

Mmmm. I suppose if the aim were to make a profit, then all well and good, but I think Hiroshima fans would rather see their team win more games, don't you think?
