Fighters-Tigers Deal Pitchers

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Fighters-Tigers Deal Pitchers
The Nippon Ham Fighters traded pitcher Itsuki Shohda to the Hanshin Tigers for pitcher Takahito Kanazawa.

Shohda was the Fighters' number one pick in the 2000 draft. Though he's struggled, and spent all of last year in ni-gun. He has a 24-37 record with a 4.87 ERA in 84 games over 6 years.

Kanazawa was the Tigers' number 2 pick in 2000. He was 3-1 with a 4.78 ERA in 25 games last year.

I think it's a very good deal for both clubs and both players.

Hanshin will use Shoda as a spot or short reliever because they have few lefty relievers. Nippon-Ham will use Kanazawa as a starter or long reliever.
