April MVPs

Discussion in the NPB News forum
April MVPs
While there was some speculation that Hiroshima's Shima would take the April MVP Award for batting in the Central League, it went to the Giants' Abe Shinnosuke. Abe tied the record for most home runs in a month at 16 and drove in 35 runs for a Double Crown.

Hanshin's Fukuhara Shinobu took the Central League pitching MVP award, winning 5 games in the month of April.

Over in the Pacific League, where the April MVP Award includes the last couple of days in March, Fernando Seguignol took the batting award, hitting .457 at the end of the first full month of the season.

Kintetsu's Iwakuma Hisashi won his second April MVP Award since 1999. Iwakuma has now started two consecutive seasons with 5 wins in a row.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
