Teams Start to Unite Against the Giants

Teams Start to Unite Against the Giants
What an interesting turn of events in the last few days, as the Central League minus the Giants have started to come out saying not only that we should keep our 12 team league, but also, if my memory is right, Yakult and Yokohama are pushing the idea of 8 teams in both leagues? Let's rally the troops, so to speak, and show our support to our players and those owners who think bigger is better.

I for one have always felt that if you were going to play games in other non NPB cities, that if that town had a 30,000 seat capacity stadium, they should have their own team.

There is between 70-80 plyers per current 12 teams, and many see very little playing time under the current system. Why not expand to cities that have a solid 30,000 seat stadium? You could even fill in gaps by expanding the draft and taking more of the better Industrial League players.

With 8 team leagues you could even get wild and, say, have two divisions in each league.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
