Japan Qualify for the Olympics

Japan Qualify for the Olympics
The Japanese Olympic team duly qualified for the Olympics last night in Taiwan. There was one qualifying place up for grabs for Asia, and Japan faced stiff competition from South Korea and Taiwan for it.

Hoshino Japan won all three of its games, beating the Philippines 10-0, South Korea 4-3, and Taiwan 10-2 (a tough game despite the scoreline). Standouts for Japan were, Arai, Inaba, Kawasaki, Abe, Darvish and Uehara. Taiwan and South Korea will have another chance to qualify for the tournament in March of next year.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
