Incidentally, who was the youngest person ever to make an appearance for an NPB ichi-gun team?

There was something along those lines in Nikkan Sports last week. Let's see.... Looking through my pile of papers here.... Here it is.

Last Wednesday's Nikkan Sports (November 17, 2004) on the front page.

The two most famous players to not have finished high school were Kokutetsu's Kaneda Masaichi in 1950 (17 year old high school junior) and Toei's Ozaki Yukio in 1962 (18 year old high school senior).

During the "Single League Era," Nishizawa Michio joined Nagoya at the age of 15 in 1936, and on September 9, 1937 got his first professional start against the Kinnosachihiko at the age of 16 years and 4 days.
