I didn't see any mention of that in today's (February 4, 2005) Nikkan Sports. I guess all their reporters are covering camp and missed this one.
Anyway, the article sited says that the 2005 version of "The Baseball Agreement" has been finalized. The players tried to get free agency reduced to seven seasons (regardless of days at ichi-gun), but the owners would only compromise to a shortening of five days at ichi-gun to qualify for a full year.
The new (2005) version of The Baseball Agreement is not yet available on the Japan Professional Baseball Players Association web site. Versions starting from 2000 are available in PDF format at the above link. Naturally, these documents are in Japanese only.

One topic also mentioned in this Japanese article on Yahoo! Japan Sports (via Jiji Tsuushin), is that there was discussion on reducing the number of years to reach free agency from 9, down to 7.
I can see a bunch of teams, especially the Giants, opposing this vehemently because they would lose some big names as soon as next season.
