2005 Asia Cup

Discussion in the NPB News forum
2005 Asia Cup
This is a follow up to this thread under Rumor Mill, as this is no longer a rumor.

From November 10th to the 13th, the championship teams from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China will come to Tokyo Dome to play a tournament, with the top two teams facing off on the 13th. There will be no game to determine the third place team.

Between November 10-12, each club will play the other three teams once, to determine the top two seeds. In the event that there is a tie, the seeding will be determined by (1) the winner of the head to head match between the teams, (2) the team with the least amount of runs given up, (3) the team with the most runs scored, and (4) the team with the highest batting average. If the seeding still cannot be determined at this time, a coin toss will determine the winner.

All games will use the DH rule, and extra innings will be played until the 15th inning, if necessary, with the championship having no limit for now (this may change at next meeting).

When the Asia-Championship Series finishes, the winning club will receive 50 million yen. The 2nd place team will get 20 million yen, and the other two teams will get 10 million yen each.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
