This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

If you've read much of my writing over the years when we play against Chunichi, you'll notice that I speak a lot about how Tanishige seems to continually burn us. But are my allegations valid? Let's take a look at how Tanishige has done against Yokohama over the past several years.
2009: .283, 3 HR, 12 RBI versus Yokohama; .208, 9 HR, 33 RBI on season
2010: .213, 2 HR, 6 RBI versus Yokohama; .244, 7 HR, 32 RBI on season
2011: .289, 1 HR, 4 RBI versus Yokohama; .256, 6 HR, 31 RBI on season
2012: .273, 1 HR, 4 RBI versus Yokohama; .228, 5 HR, 32 RBI on season
2013: .455, 1 HR, 6 RBI versus Yokohama; .302, 2 HR, 14 RBI on season so far
A quick scan of how he performed against other Central League teams shows that he mainly dominated the BayStars in 2009, the Giants in 2010, the Giants and Yakult in 2011, Yakult in 2012, and back to Yokohama with shades of Swallow dominance in 2013 (so far).
Hmmm. After looking at that, I may be over-estimating Tanishige's impact against us the past couple of years. But it sure does seem like he comes trough with a critical RBI just when it hurts us the most.
