Shigeru Kobayashi passes away

Shigeru Kobayashi passes away
A famous ex-Tigers pitcher died over the weekend of heart failure. This was Shigeru Kobayashi who started his career with the Giants but was traded in 1978 for Egawa. Kobayashi was Giants ace and immediately set about being Tigers ace winning a Sawamura award in his first season with the team. He also beat Giants eight times pitching six complete games (pitchers worked hard in those days). For those interested in Kobayashi he is featured on Volume 3 (Tigers v Giants) and Volume 20 (Kobayashi and Emoto) of the Kodensha Hanshin Tigers series. Plenty of action shots and interviews with an interesting player. He will be sadly missed.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
