Nishiguchi: One Out from No-No

Discussion in the Records and Milestones forum
Nishiguchi: One Out from No-No
Tonight (May 13, 2005) at Seibu Invoice Dome, Seibu ace Nishiguchi came one out from a no-run, no-hitter. Then, with two down in the bottom of the nineth inning, Yomiuri Giants' Shimizu at the plate, Shimizu swung and drilled the ball deep over the right field fense. For the second time in his career, Nishiguchi came one out from a no-no.

On "News Station" (channel 10 in the Tokyo area), Nishiguchi said that he was actually relieved when Shimizu swung and hit the ball out.

I watched that game on the Internet. That was crazy. I think he'd be even more relieved if Shimizu struck out.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
