This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

The first Japanese record is Robert J. Reynolds' 11 consecutive at bats with a hit. Reynolds did this with the Taiyo Whales (now BayStars) between August 1-4, 1991. Unlike Takahashi who had three walks (one intentional) sandwithched in his 11 hits, Reynolds' record is 11 consecutive plate appearances.
The second record tied is shared with Tokitaka Minamibuchi who reached base 14 consecutive plate appearances while with the Chiba Lotte Marines between July 16-25, 1993. Minamibuchi only had four base hits during that streak, drawing a total of 10 bases on balls, including seven in a row over three games. (Is that a record?)
During Takahashi's streak, he raised his average from .287 to .340, finishing the day (June 11) with a .347 average. The Giants lost the game to the Swallows 19-10, causing very little joy in the Giants' club house with regard to the records.
