He is the first pitcher to have won 200 games since Manabu Kitabeppu of the Carp won his 200th game. That was in 1992, I think. Kudoh also hit his first career home run in the same game. All in all a great game to remember.

I recall (or believe) that Kitabeppu of the Carp won his 200th game in 1994.

According to this fan site (in Japanese), Kitabeppu won his 200th game on July 16, 1992. Several other sources confirm that date.

He retired after the 1994 season with a lifetime record of 213 wins, 143 losses, 5 saves, an ERA of 3.67, and 1,757 strike outs.

I was wrong. I do remember that Kitabeppu retired after 1994 season. I also remember that he used to beat my team, the Yakult Swallows, many times. I believe that it took a little longer for Kudoh to win 200 games.

How many championships has he won, like 7, 8? 201 wins and 8 titles, won't that pretty much secure him into the Hall of Fame?
