This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Kasei Ono announced that the 2008 season would be his last season as a player in NPB. During the last game of the season for Yakult and Yokohama on October 12 at Jingu Stadium, Ono came up to pinch hit in the 8th inning with two out, and he hit a solo home run to left giving Yakult a 3-2 lead. He also hit a home run in his first professional at bat back in 1997.
Original article in Japanese is here [Sponichi].
Sponichi is reporting that Ono is the first "ever," but I heard a TV news station here report first ever "Japanese." Maybe just semantics, but I don't know.
