Ramon Ramirez
The righthander Ramon Ramirez will play with Gigantes del Cibao (Cibao Giants) in the Dominican Winter League starting next week. He played with Hiroshima last season. Talk me about the guy. Is he the next Robinson Checo?

I'm afraid that he only played in two games last season with the top team [Player Profile], so there isn't much I can say. Did anyone see him throw on the farm?

Is this [Ramon Ramirez] guy good? It appears the Yankees want him.

Checo, a name from the past. What ever happened to him? Is he still in the minors?

I got to see Ramon pitche in the Arizona Fall League -- and he just dominated. He had league's best ERA and was second in strikeouts. His main pitch is the slider. Good kid, and a great person. I think he will be in the bigs with Yankees this year.
