Dan Miceli's Memories Of Japan

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Dan Miceli's Memories Of Japan
I was browsing the Sponichi site and they have a "sayonara pro yakyu" section for all the guys leaving. In it, each guy gets to say a little something about their favorite memory from pro yakyu. Here is the ever so hated Dan Miceli's:
"The stadiums were tiny. They reminded me of little league."
Guys coming to Japan should study what him and Kapler did and do everything they can to not let that happen again. Ugh.

That being said, he did make it back in the majors for a few games last season. [ESPN Player Stats]

Though one has to wonder if it wasn't the pitching-thin Rockies, would Miceli have made it back to the majors that quick?

That being said, he also had one of the biggest MLB blunders of the year when he lost a ball in the grass.

I don't really appreciate when a guy comes over to Japan for a nice payday, then compares the level of batting power to that of children. I know those little leaguers lit him up like a Christmas tree, but it's no reason to be bitter.

Miceli isn't the first, and won't be the last guy to underestimate Japanese baseball. It's their loss, because they'll be the ones either whiffing at huge breaking balls or falling over while trying to field a bunt.

Don't you like it better when a guy comes over for the big bucks, runs his mouth, gets lit up by the little leaguers, and has to pack his bags for home?

Haha, yeah good point. He got lit up by "little leaguers."

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
