What happened Ryo Yoshimoto (Hawks) at 3rd base?

What happened Ryo Yoshimoto (Hawks) at 3rd base?
I thought Ryo Yoshimoto was to be given the third base job. Did they send him back down or something because he wasn't hitting? Or did Matsuda just jump over him?

I seem to remember Yoshimoto was already given a shot by the Hawks in 2004 which didn't go well, so I don't know. Maybe Softbank decided to go elsewhere.

I did some research on the rookies last night. The Hawks signed Matsuda as a #1 pick with a 1-oku yen advance, 5,000-man in incentives, and a 1,500-man annual salary. That is a lot for a rookie in Japan. That's almost 1.5 million dollars in overall potential income.

Egawa is also in the running for the job, because he's shown unexpected power this spring. It should be a fun battle to watch. In the end, I think both guys will see substantial at bats this year.

As far as other rookies go, I can't wait to see how Fujii of the Dragons does. The media is hyping his arm strength and speed to be equal to the best Japan has, and he's also hitting very well in the #2 spot for the Dragons. Another Ichiro? At least another Aoki? I can't wait to find out.
