So I got to see Uemura in Game 1.

Can anyone give me a rundown on the top five or so pitcher in Pro Yakyu? Matsuzaka? That guy Watanabe? Any phenoms on the rise?

Igawa of Hanshin Tigers
Wada of Softbank Hawks
Uehara of Yomiuri Giants
Kawakami of Chunichi Dragons
Watanabe of Chiba Lotte Marines

Kuroda of the Carp might be a consideration for that list.

I would also put Hawks' pitcher Toshiya Suiguchi in there, too. He might be young, but he was above awesome last year.

I'd forgotten Suiguchi - he was impressive. Kuroda would not make it to my list, I'm afraid. He loses too many games.

Sugiushi has to be in there. He was unbelieveable last season and rock solid in 2003. He also has "stuff" that would translate well to the North American game. He has three solid pitches from the left side, something Kaz Ishii didn't seem to have when he came.

Though his stats don't show it just yet, I believe that Darvish Yu stock will be rising in the next couple of years.
