WBC: Three Years From Now

WBC: Three Years From Now
I know almost nothing about Japanese baseball, but I know enough about baseball itself to see that the Japanese team, along with the Cubans, are the strongest on fundamentals and in-game concentration. The greatest enemy of Japan in this Classic was not the Korean players and not even the reprehensible American umpires - it was the format of the tournament.

I very much hope that next time (2009 I believe), the organizers will act on what has been learned this time: the number of games is simply too small. Maybe they need to start a week earlier and continue a few days beyond March 19. Only an additional game per round will do justice to all the teams. That would be enough time for true talent and skill and preparedness to rise to the top - and when that happens, Japan will be in the final.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
