Sikorski?

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Sikorski?
I was reading an article about Brian Sikorski. It said he is able to opt out of his AAA contract with Padres on June 15th. He has dominating #'s in Portland this year; 23 innings, 7 BB, 40 K, 5 saves, and his fastball has been clocked as high as 97 mph. Is there a chance we could see him in Japan this year? If the Padres can't use him, it seems he could do a contender over here some good.

Rakuten released him on the notion that he wouldn't play for any other NPB team, so I doubt it.

Just read the Padres have called Brian Sikorski up to the big leagues. Maybe they do have use for him. Good Luck Brian!

Just to provide an update for anyone interested, Sikorski appeared as a middle reliever for the Cleveland Indians last night against the Boston Red Sox. So it certainly doesn't look like he's coming back to Japan (not this season, at least). Sadly for him, though, he blew a 3-2 Indians' lead by giving up solo HRs to Manny Ramirez and Willie Mo Pena.

I saw that first pitch in extra innings in his last game with the Padres which earned him the loss and saw him traded to Cleveland. He's going to be running out of options soon.
