PBS Documentary: Kokoyakyu High School Baseball

PBS Documentary: Kokoyakyu High School Baseball
I don't think this has been posted here yet. Ken Shear's film about the spring Japanese High School Championship at Koshien stadium is being shown on PBS stations throughout the USA now. It is getting great reviews as a passionate film that goes further than just portraying Japanese baseball - it apparently is a good look at the Japanese culture and social aspects also, and how high school baseball reflects those.

Here is the PBS website on the film, where you can get the schedule for the PBS showings in your area in July.

Also, there is a good interview with Bobby Valentine on that site.

Enjoy!

[By Editor: Actually, there is a thread on the subject here (Media Guide).]
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
