When Will K. Saitoh be Back in the Roster?

When Will K. Saitoh be Back in the Roster?
Does anybody know when SoftBank's Saitoh will be back in the line-up? Is it too late for him to be ranked #1 like last year because he's been gone too long now? Can he still break his own records even if it's almost half of the season already?

It is indeed too late for Kazumi Saitoh to break his own records. He's been out since late April with what has been described as "shoulder fatigue," and Oh-kantoku has said that if Saitoh does come back this season, he won't be back until either July, August, or even September. This has been a recurring problem for Saitoh throughout his career, and it happened after he won the 2003 Sawamura Award, too. In 2004, Saitoh was 10-7 with a 6.26 ERA, the highest ever by a starter who made a qualifying number of starts (or is it innings?).

With the Hawks in a tight 3-team contest for the Pacific League title (which will probably go right down to the wire), expect Saitoh, with his competitive nature, to be back in time to help the Hawks in the stretch run. Hopefully he'll be healthy by then.
