Nine Run Ninth Inning

Nine Run Ninth Inning
Wow. Just wow. I saw Lotte was up 7-2 on Hanshin by midnight here in Seattle. No worries. Easy win.

The next morning, I see that we lost after a nine run ninth inning given up mostly by the slumping Fujita and the couple times a year god awful KobaMasa. That must've been fun to watch for Hanshin fans.

As a Marines fan, I have to wonder where Bobby was during all this. If this isn't enough to kick Fujita down to ni-gun, I don't know what will be.

Bring Ohmine up.

With such a frustrating season, the Tigers were due to get it together and explode like this. I think they had gone almost three full games without a hit with runners in scoring position, so it was a relief to see this.

Unfortunately, they are now being shut out again in the 7th as I write this!

[By Editor: And in the 11th as I approve this.]

So are the Marines (which makes a change).

The day after the offensive explosion, we have a 12 inning scoreless draw. Unbelievable.

Ah, yes. Well, Hanshin used up all of their runs allotted for the week in that one inning.

I wonder if Masa Kobayashi was just having flashbacks to the 2005 Japan Series against Hanshin. He was kind of shaky then too, wasn't he? I mostly remember the last game, thinking he was totally going to blow it like he blew the third game of the PL playoffs, and then Imae went in and made that fantastic double play off Yano's bunt, which sort of brought Kobayashi back to earth or something.

I bet he has nightmares about Tigers.
