I'm planning on going. I'll be sitting in a 650 person area reserved by Seattle-Kobe Sister City Assn. (Section 115, 116, 117).

See my posting entitled "10th Annual Kobe Day with the Mariners" in the Nichi-bei forum.

Kiyoshi mentioned it here a few weeks ago. I'd normally be going, but I'll be gone from Seattle by then.

Though, last year's game was pretty silly, especially when they had random odd Japanese phrases up on the board like "Kenji wa tsuyoi," or the Fact or Fiction segment was "names of teams in the Japanese Pacific League" - except then they put up the Yakult Swallows as fact. (I was yelling, "They're in the Central League!" but I don't think anyone had any idea what I was talking about.)

The Seattle-Kobe sister city thing should be pretty interesting, though.

I get to several Mariners games each year - it's about a 3 hour drive plus/minus border hassles from Vancouver. But I can't make that particular game, zannen desu ga.

For anyone interested, by the way, there is a JTB tour bus which goes to all the Mariners games from the Vancouver Hyatt Hotel. R/T fare plus baseball ticket in a nice section off first base is Can$150, a good deal. It's the best way to go from here, and you'll enjoy a nice time with Japanese fans who are delighted to see Ichiro and Johjima up close.
