Keiichi Nagasaki in the Election
Did former outfielder Keiichi Nagasaki win office in the recent elections in Japan? I'm guessing not given the blow his party was dealt, but would like to know.

I saw it mentioned that he was running in this Mainichi Daily News article, but he wasn't included in the follow up, so I'm guessing not. The most telling part of the whole political scene can be summed up in this paragraph:
Abe's party is far from another stint on the sidelines. And Ozawa's successes aren't likely to eclipse the more famous baseball-playing Ichiro of the Seattle Mariners in the minds of most Japanese quite yet.
That's about as far into politics as I'd like to dwell, though.

No, he didn't - a scan of the winning candidates does not include his name.
