Female Baseball Commentators

Female Baseball Commentators
I'm watching the Gaora cable channel right now; they're showing the Hanshn farm team's game against Surpass Kobe (Orix's second stringers). I'm really surprised to find they have a woman as the main commentator. Is this a regular occurence?

Incidentally, she seems to be quite knowledgeable, but sometimes quite hesitant in her speaking; not bad at all.

Hello, Torakichi-san.

I have been directly and indirectly keeping my eyes on Pro Yakyu for 16 years, but I hadn't heard of female baseball commentators. It's nice to have them (or her).

Female baseball commentators seem to be rare in the U.S., too. Like in Japan, some "play-by-play" interviewers are women, but they rarely have opportunities to share their experties on professional baseball.

Could you tell us more about the female baseball commentator whom you have observed?

Sure, I'll keep an eye out. BTW, last night, the male/female ratio on that broadcast was 1:2. There was the female commentator I told you about, as well as a female "reporter" chiming in with comments from the teams' benches (I've seen this on the major networks' coverage of 1-gun games, too), and a male play-by-play comments man. I assume the guy was an ex-player, but didn't catch his name.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
