Sasaki Katsutoshi/Takahiro

Sasaki Katsutoshi/Takahiro
I saw Takahiro tonight and told him of your finding the stats of his father and posting then to your site. He was very happy about that. And then I asked him about his career in the USA. He played with at least 3 teams while there, Allentown Ambassadors and Long Island Ducks, both Independent league teams. He then was sent to the AA Greenville Bluesmen in Greenville Mississippi.

The reason I feel he also should also be added to your list is due to the fact he started at the bottom of the ladder in the USA and worked his way up it, unlike like most Japanese players that started with a career in Japan and moved to the USA already established as a pro.

Btw: Clocked him tonight in a JSBB amateur game in Setagaya's Kinuta Family Park at 140+km - very accurate, and at only 32 years of age, I think some Japan scout ought to look him up. He still has it.

For the time being, I'm only tracking players in Japan. But I am working with the SABR Data-Bank group to merge my database with theirs for a (long term goal) global database of baseball at all levels. Once that's done, it's my hope that many sites will start popping up with a wide variety of data, from a site dedicated to father-son players (such as Sasaki-san), to full blown sites featuring players spanning multiple countries and leagues. One excellent example for a niche site (obviously done without the help of such an international database) is Daigo-san's JapaneseBallPlayers.com, which started out as a site dedicated to Japanese in the MLB, then expanded to Asians in MLB.

I envision being able to trace stats from high school, through college and Industrial Leagues, to NPB, KBO, CPBL, MLB, minors in North and South America, European leagues, and beyond.

I look forward to anything you might do to expand yours or anyone else's site. Already your site is better than anything I've seen on either side of the ocean! Most sites can't even compete with your "Home" page. Keep up the great work!
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
