Foreign Player Updates?

- What is going on with Orix? Are they going to sign Cabrera (officially or what)? Also, I heard they were interested in Darwin Cubillan as well. Is this true? If not, who might their last foreign player be?

Last I heard is that Orix and Cabrera are close to an agreement [Japan Ball], that report was on the 28th of December; I'm not sure what's going on now regarding Cabrera?

As for Cubillan, there were rumors of Orix going after him after being let go by the Tigers. Though right now, I'm starting to doubt it.

- Also, any rumors as to whom the Tigers are going to pick up for their final foreigner? What happened with the talk of picking up Thames from Detroit?

Hanshin so far has picked up former Minnesota Twins outfielder Lew Ford. They've also picked up pitcher Scott Atchison, who played with the San Francisco Giants. Williams will return. Sheets and Vogelson are history, so Hanshin looks like they will have two slots open.

I'm not sure what the Hanshin front office is thinking, but I think it would be smart to try and sign a pitcher or two to fill the remaining foriegn player slots.

I was wondering the same thing. Who will be the last free agent Orix signs? I heard they had interest in Cubillan, but never heard anything else. They are very close to signing Cabrera, but it sure has been dragged out a long time. They did sign Jeremy Powell.

So as it stands now they have Davey, Powell, Larocca, and probably Cabrera. Rhodes doesn't count as a foreign player. I'm hoping for at least Cubillan, an outfielder, or a closer.
