Valentine Weighs in on Powell Scandal
Those of you who go through the Pro Yakyu news in Japanese will have noticed a SpoNichi article about Bobby speaking critically about the Powell situation. It looks like Valentine-kantoku is going along with the opinion of YakyuFan in this discussion on the subject.

From the article:
 パウエル問題では「なぜオリックスだけが罰則を受けるのか理解できない」とした上で「代理人が同じことを繰り返さないように、ある程度の規範をつくらないと」と訴えた。

Regarding the Powell problem, "I don't understand why Orix are the only ones being penalized," [Valentine-kantoku] begins. He then appeals, "There should be something done so that an agent doesn't repeat this, to make sure that this does not become the norm."
[Translation of a translation. What was actually said may vary.]

Actually, put that way, I think that an agent isn't going to necessarily want his client to receive a 3 month suspension to begin the season. So it strikes me that there is at least some penalty being applied to the agent.

Valentine-kantoku then voices a complaint about the MLB season overlapping with the Pacific League opening, both in Japan. The Pacific League's Koike-president is in full agreement with Valentine-kantoku in this regard.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
