Japanese WBC Team Balance?

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Japanese WBC Team Balance?
Saludos.

Could you please tell me what the ideal lineup is of the Japanese team, according to the players shortlisted for the next World Baseball Classic? And what are the 28 players that the team finally ended with?

I would also like to know the balance for the Japanese team for the Classic, as to pitching, offense and defense. For example, are the pitchers solid in relief, starters, or both? Does the offensive have contact, power, and speed? Is the defense simply good or extremely good?

Thank you.

You were just a day early with the question. The 28 man roster has just been announced today (Feb 22 JST).

The rest of your questions will take a little more time to break down. But they will probably be answered during the course of games leading up to the start of the WBC. Keep an eye on this forum and on the Pro Yakyu News forum. NPB Tracker and East Windup Chronicle are a couple of other sites with a great deal of insight into the WBC players.

A lot of people will disagree about an ideal lineup. Here's my call:

1. Ichiro Suzuki, RF
2. Norichika Aoki, CF
3. Hiroyuki Nakajima, SS
4. Michihiro Ogasawara, 1B
5. Shuichi Murata, 3B
6. Akinori Iwamura, 2B
7. Seiichi Uchikawa, DH
8. Shinnosuke Abe, C
9. Atsunori Inaba, LF

Your mileage may, and almost certainly will, vary.
