Who was first Japanese player to earn $1Million US (120 Million Yen)?
I am trying to learn who was the first Japanese player to earn the equivalent of $1 million US (120 million yen). I know that Nolan Ryan was the first in the US to earn $1 million per season in 1979. Does anyone know?

This is just a guess, but I'm betting it was Hiromitsu Ochiai. He was the first player to really take management to the wall with contract negotiations, and I believe I read in Shukan Baseball that he was the first to 1-oku yen (100,000,000 yen). Perhaps Westbay-san can confirm this?
